Nativity Music Festival
Nativity Music Festival for December 2009
Taking place on the first Sunday of every month, the festival is a celebration of classical, folk and jazz music in our church. We are inviting musicians from Phoenix and beyond to play for you.
On Sunday, January 10th at 5 p.m. we are having our next Nativity Music Festival concert - this time we will present an energetic and young jazz ensemble, The Energy Trio www.theenergytrio.com, with Bob Powers on guitar/trumpet, Shea Marshall on saxophone/Hammond/keyboards, and Erik Teichmann on drums. They will present their original compositions as well as some popular favorites. Come and join us for this exciting evening full of music that will have you dancing in the aisles!

PAST PERFORMANCES
- The first concert of the series was on Sunday June 7th at noon (following a light lunch at 11:30). It featured Zeelab, a duo by Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler and Jacob Adler. They performed classical music by Chopin, Bach, Rachmaninov (and more) as well as their original music for the organ and piano. - The second concert of the series happened on Sunday, July 5: Freedom Sunday, at 11.30 a.m. It was a patriotic sing-along, supported musically by our Adult Choir as well as guest musicians: Ryan Bledsoe, Julian Peterson – saxophones Monica Sauer Anthony – flute The group was accompanied and conducted by Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler.
- Our third concert was on Sunday, October 4th, at 5 p.m., performed by an outstanding musician, Dr. Guy Whatley, an organist and an amazing advocate of music in the States and in Europe. He played solo organ, as well as in a duo with a mezzo soprano, Michelle Luedtke, who joined him in performing pieces by Bach, Buxtehude, Bruhns and Scheidt.
- Our fourth concert was on Sunday, November 1st, at 5 p.m. It was performed by a young and energetic trio: Ryan Bledsoe (saxophones), Monica Sauer Anthony (flute), Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler (organ, piano).
- Our fifth concert on Sunday, December 6th, at 5 p.m. was YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS music sing-along and Cookie Festival with Nativity Adult and Children Choirs, Alastair Longley-Cook and Julia Snook on guitars, and Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler on piano/organ.
