A Mission Church
The churches around us were built by people for future generations to worship in. Now it's our turn!
home by 2012. Our diocese owns land that we can use. 2009 will be a year of visioning, during which our whole congregation will talk about God's dreams for us. At the end of the year, we will make a decision about where to locate permanently.
In a community undergoing rapid growth and development, like the Phoenix metropolitan area, there is a great need for churches to be started to serve the needs of those communities. The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona, and its bishop, Kirk Smith, are committed to establishing mission churches in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Under the leadership of the Rev. Susan B. Snook, a dedicated group of mission-oriented folks formed Church of the Nativity in the fall of 2006, worshipping in a school. We have grown rapidly, and now worship in our own suite in an office building. Our long-term plan calls for us to move to a permanent

About Our Icons
One of the most beautiful features of our worship space is our iconography (please see the photo a ttached). The two icons were "written" (that is, painted) by the noted iconographer Laura Smith. On the right is an icon of the Holy Family. On the left is an icon of the Annunciation, in which we see the young peasant girl Mary experiencing the presence of an angel, who tells her she will give birth to a son. Both icons are very special to the Church of the Nativity!
